Susan Collins says she’ll vote no on any Trump pick for SCOTUS before Election

Senator Susan Collins has become the first Republican Senator to say she will vote against anyone President Trump nominates to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg if the vote occurs before election Day.

However with Republicans holding a 53-47 Senate edge, Collins and Murkowski will not be enough to block the pick.

3 Republican Senators that Democrats were hoping would join Collins and Murkowski are siding with the Trump/McConnell on voting to fill the vacancy this year – Cory Gardner of Colorado, Mitt Romney of Utah and Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

Rep. Matt Gaetz wrote on Twitter “What good are Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski if we can’t count on them to fulfill their obligation to advise and consent during the term in which they’ve been elected?”

Collins is facing a difficult Senate race where polling and prediction markets currently expert her to lose to Democrat challenger, Sara Gideon.

One poll by Quinnipiac, has Gideon witha massive 12 point lead.
