Shaun King “I’m not going to call for peace…mayhem is the consequence. You earned it.”

Reacting to mass protests and vandalism that took place in Wisconsin, including the burning down of a car dealership in reaction to the police shooting of Jacob Blake, social justice activist Shaun King refused to “call for peace.”

King tweeted:

Nah. I’m not going to call for peace.

We’ve tried peace. For years.

Y’all don’t understand that language.

We are calling for a complete dismantling of American policing.

It’s NOT broken.
It was built to work this way.

And mayhem is the consequence.
You earned it.

One Twitter user who appears to support Shaun King tweeted a meme that says “Black people have every right to dismantle the country they built for free.”

Another Twitter user responded “I really hope all the BLM protesters from Chicago make their way to Kenosha. It’s not that far.”

A Twitter user countering King replied “Stop committing crimes & resisting arrest.”
