Appearing with John King on CNN Sunday, Senator Angus King warned “there’s a grave danger of (Trump) inadvertently or willfully revealing classified information that would compromise sources and methods.”
“There’s no upside. There’s no reason he needs to have this information” King continued “and I think given his past history of being fast and loose with intelligence data, it ought to be ― that ought to be an easy decision for the incoming president.”
King noted noted intel briefings are typically given to former presidents as a courtesy rather than as a legal requirement.
Appearing on “Face the Nation” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) also said Trump should never receive another intel briefing, arguing he “can’t be trusted”
Schiff was asked by Margaret Brennan if he’d urge Biden to deny Trump access to intel briefings.
Schiff replied “Absolutely…there’s no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing, not now, not in the future. I don’t think he can be trusted with it now, and in the future, he certainly can’t be trusted.”
