Senate Judiciary Republicans advance Barrett nomination despite Democrats’ boycott

Despite the decision of Democrats to boycott, the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday unanimously advanced the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

Barrett’s final confirmation vote is now expected to take place Monday.

With no Democrats present, Judge Barrett was reported favorably out of the Judiciary Committee in a 12-0 unanimous vote.

Reacting to Democrats’ boycott, Graham said “That was their choice. It will be my choice to vote the nominee out of committee.”

“We are not going to allow them to take over the committee. They made a choice not to participate,” he added.

Trump reacted to the news by tweeting “Judiciary Committee approves Judge Barrett. Moves to full Senate for final vote. Big day for America!”
