SCOTUS announces Ginsburg to lie in repose at the Supreme Court this week

In a new Press Release, the Supreme Court of the United States announced the body of Ruth Bader Ginsburg will lie in repose at the court building on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Ginsburg’s casket will be under the portico at the top of the court’s steps in front of the building on these days.

“A private ceremony will take place in the Great Hall at 9:30 a.m. attended by Justice Ginsburg’s family, close friends, and members of the Court,” the Supreme Court said in a press release.

“Following the private ceremony inside, Justice Ginsburg will lie in repose under the Portico at the top of the front steps of the Building to allow for public viewing outdoors.”

The death of Ginsburg at the age of 87 has now set off a fierce fight between Republicans and Democrats as to when her vacancy will be filled.
