RI Dem Governor under fire after being seen at wine bar after tweeting “stay home except for essential activities”

December 7th, Rhode Island Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo tweeted “t’s week two of our pause. I know it’s been hard, but I want to thank every Rhode Islander who’s following our guidance.”

She added “Please, stay home except for essential activities & wear a mask anytime you’re with people you don’t live with. Together, we can turn our case numbers around.”

Raimondo was then caught maskless at a paint and wine bar, despite telling citizens to “stay home except for essential activities.”

One Twitter user replied to Raimondo “Great job Governor ! You can go out and have wine at a bar but your residents should stay home? Hypocritical and entitled. You should go hang out with Governor Newsome. Stop killing small businesses in my former home state.”

The Providence Journal reported “Matt Sheaff, a spokesman for Commerce RI, said that under the state’s “pause” rules, things like paint and wine events are allowed, as long as precautions are in place like not sharing brushes. The rules are written to ban things like musical performances or the arcade portion of a combination arcade-restaurant.

Still, her appearance at an indoor dining establishment angered some, who said that even if she followed her own rules, those rules weren’t strong enough.”
