Republican Lawmaker censured by Ohio GOP and urged to resign after voting to impeach Trump

U.S. Rep Anthony Gonzalez is being censured and urged to resign by the Ohio GOP after voting to impeach former President Trump.

The vote was nearly unanimous from the central committee.

Gonzalez is now the 8th of 10 lawmakers who voted to impeach Trump to be censured or rebuked by a local GOP party.

Only 2 efforts have failed.

Per NBC News “the resolution to censure that was approved by the committee called Trump’s second impeachment process meritless, unprecedented, unconstitutional and purposeless. Along a narrower vote, the committee also approved a second resolution, which hadn’t been on the agenda, calling on Gonzalez to resign.”

In February, Gonzalez defended his vote against Trump in a podcast appearance.
