According to a new report from the SFGate, former President Trump may involve himself in California Governor Gavin Newsom’s recall election.
Per the SFGate, Bloomberg TV’s Kevin Cirilli reported that Trump is “carefully eyeing and weighing” whether he should “inject some of the Trump political machine into a potential California governor runoff election.”
The report adds “it’s notable that the former president’s reported interest is in the runoff and not the signature gathering process, suggesting he may be interested in endorsing a candidate for governor. If more than 50% of voters opt to recall Newsom, whichever candidate receives a plurality of votes on the ballot’s second component would become governor.”
Republican San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and John Cox have announced their intentions to run for governor.
A close Trump ally and former interim Direction of National Intelligence under Trump, Richard Grennell is also reportedly considering a bid according to Politico.
