According to a 2017 article from the Hollywood reporter, Malia Obama interned at Harvey Weinstein’s company prior to his sexual harassment scandal breaking out.
Newsweek reported in 2017, Malia Obama, 19, landed an internship at the Weinstein Company right after her dad left office earlier this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Working in the New York City office, she was doing more than fetching coffee—TMZ reported that Malia Obama was “ensconced in the production/development department,” tasked with “reading through scripts and deciding which ones move on to Weinstein brass.”

President Barack Obama’s eldest daughter, who previously interned on the HBO show ‘Girls,’ is set to work with the Hollywood superproducer and Democratic donor.
President Barack Obama isn’t the only member of the family moving to a new role. Malia Obama, Barack and Michelle’s eldest daughter, has secured an internship with Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
A source tells THR that Malia, 18, is expected to begin work in the New York office of The Weinstein Co. in February, after the now-former first family finishes a vacation in Palm Springs. Malia is set to attend Harvard University in the fall, after taking a year off following her graduation from high school last June.
This isn’t Malia’s first foray into Hollywood. In 2015, the Obamas’ daughter worked as an intern in New York on Lena Dunham’s HBO series Girls. She also spent time on the Los Angeles set of Halle Berry’s CBS drama series Extant.
Per TCO, a video resurfaced Tuesday of ex-First Lady Michelle Obama absolutely gushing over convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein, calling him “a good friend” and “a wonderful human being.”
