NFL ratings were way down year over year in the season opener filled with references on racial justice.
According to Deadline, the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans got 19.3 million viewers.
That is down 12.3% from the opening game of the 2019-2020 season – Green Bay vs. Chicago.
The NFL made several references to the BLM movement, with national anthem singers wearing tributes to George Floyd and Breanna Taylor.
The Houston Texans chose not to enter the field for the national anthem.
The Chiefs entered the field and Defense End Alex Okafor kneeled and lifted his first.
Some Chiefs fans booed during the “moment of unity” and call for social justice.
