Pressley on shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant “Black girls deserve girlhood — uninterrupted. Black girls deserve to grow up and become women”

Reacting to the police shooting of 16 year old Ma’Khia Bryant, who was wielding a knife and appeared to be in the act of stabbing another woman, “squad” member Ayanna Pressley tweeted:

Black girls deserve girlhood — uninterrupted.

Black girls deserve to grow up and become women.

One Twitter user who goes by “Dessa_B” replied “This was a Black girl about to stab another black girl…what about the woman’s life that saved? No one is talking about that.”

Another Twitter user replied “Yes, it’s a heartbreaking video, and I don’t know what transpired before. But I saw what the officer saw, and that was one young lady apparently in the act of attempted murder. He had a split second to decide to save a girl. If the girl in pink had dead, he’d have failed her.”

To which “Dessa_B” replied “Exactly!! I hate they are making this a race thing because with any race his reaction would have been suitable to the situation.”
