Pressley faces backlash after claiming Care, “Climate justice,” and Housing are all infrastructure

In a tweet Wednesday, progressive “squad” member Ayanna Pressley raised some eyebrows by redefining what she considers “infrastructure.”

“Care is infrastructure. Climate justice is infrastructure. Housing is infrastructure.” Pressley wrote.

“We can and we must meet the moment,” she added.

One Twitter user replied “Housing is infrastructure?? Is the government now going to be in the business of building homes??”

Another Twitter user replied “That is pushing the meaning of infrastructure a bit far…Infrastructure is the general term for the basic physical systems of a business, region, or nation. Examples of infrastructure include transportation systems, communication networks, sewage, water, and electric systems.”

“No, that is your interpretation of infrastructure. The dictionary definition: the fundamental facilities and systems serving a country, city, or area, as transportation and communication systems, power plants, and schools.”

“None of those are infrastructure. Congress just throws taxpayer dollars at their pet projects. What happened to obamacare? wasnt that supposed to be the huge deal for all americans?”
