On Tuesday, President Trump slammed Joe Biden, the former Vice President currently seen as Democrats’ frontrunner candidate to oppose him in the upcoming election, suggesting Biden is “weak mentally.”
As the race for the 2020 election continues to heat up, the two have traded barbs continuously, with Trump calling Biden a “loser” repeatedly.
Making a reference to Biden’s focus on his presidency, Trump said “when a man has to mention my name 76 times in a speech, that means he’s in trouble.”
“I’d rather run against, I think, Biden than anybody,” said the president. “I think he’s the weakest mentally, and I like running against people that are weak mentally. I think Joe is the weakest up here.”
President Donald Trump lashed out at former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday, calling him mentally weak, saying that he likes running against “people that are weak mentally.”
Both Biden and the president are speaking in Iowa at separate campaign events. According to a transcript of his prepared remarks, Biden mentions Trump by name 47 times.
Speaking to reporters before leaving for Iowa, Trump said Biden is a loser who “never got more than one percent, except Obama took him off the trash heap, and now it looks like he’s failing.”
“It looks like his friends from the left are going to overtake him pretty soon, but I heard you know his whole campaign is to hit Trump. You look at what the Obama administration did in terms of the military, in terms of security, in terms of other nations, in terms of almost everything, much of it now fortunately for everybody here has been overturned. But look, when a man has to mention my name 76 times in a speech, that means he’s in trouble,” Trump said.
The president said Biden is “a different guy” than he was when he ran for president against Barack Obama.
“Now I have to tell you, he’s a different guy. He looks different than he used to. He acts different than he used to. He’s even slower than he used to be, so I don’t know, but when he mentions my name that many times, I guess I should be complimented,” Trump said.
Still, the president said he prefers to run against Biden “than anybody,” because of his weak mental state.
“I’d rather run against I think Biden than anybody. I think he’s the weakest mentally, and I like running against people that are weak mentally. I think Joe is the weakest up here. The others ones have much more energy. I don’t agree with their policies, but I think Joe is a man who is—I call him One Percent Joe, because until Obama came along, he didn’t do very well,” Trump said.
