Planned Parenthood CEO says she’s “over the moon” with excitement that Kamala is VP, blasts Tex Gov. Abbott

During an interview with Business Insider, Planned Parenthood President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson said she is “completely over the moon” with excitement that Kamala Harris is Vice President.

Johnson said of Harris “she has really demonstrated her facility of understanding our issues but also the intersection of sexual and reproductive healthcare with issues of race, with issues of the economy, with issues of democracy and our American values.”

“I’m completely over the moon and so excited to support her leadership and support their vision for how we transform healthcare, as well as sexual reproductive healthcare,” she added.

Meanwhile, Wednesday, Johnson blasted Texas Governor Greg Abbott while providing an update on the organizations lawsuit against him.

Planned Parenthood wrote:

BREAKING: Planned Parenthood affiliates are suing to stop Gov. Greg Abbott from blocking thousands of Texans with Medicaid from receiving life-saving health care from the provider they know and trust.

His “defunding” order takes effect tomorrow, just a week after the Biden-Harris admin made clear it was time to put an end to Trump-era attacks on health care for people with low incomes, women, and people of color.

This is the latest attack to block Medicaid patients from getting the care they deserve — the same people who are currently struggling the most to survive a pandemic. It’s unacceptable and we are fighting back.

Johnson added:

[email protected] is harming the SAME people who are struggling the most to survive this pandemic — disproportionately Black & Brown people, essential workers, & single parents.

@PPact will use every tool we have to ensure patients have the care they need, where they need it.
