Piers Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle being investigated by U.K. media regulator

After his harsh critique of Meghan Markle following her interview with husband Harry and Oprah Winfrey, Piers Morgan is being investigated by UK media regulator Ofcom.

This comes after over 41k people wrote in to complain about Morgan’s “Good Morning Britain” comments on Markle.

Morgan said he did not believe Markle’s comments about her mental health. “Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report,” Morgan said.

An Ofcom spokesperson told Variety “We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of ‘Good Morning Britain’ under our harm and offence rules.”

Morgan quit “Good Morning Britain” following the backlash for his comments.

He took to Twitter to write “on Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
