Pelosi Still Pushing Bill to Limit Trump’s Military Actions Even Though Iran Tension Has Deescalated

Nancy Pelosi tweeted Wednesday that she is moving forward with a bill meant to limit President Trump’s military actions in Iran even though tensions have already deescalated.

The House is moving forward with ‘s War Powers Resolution limiting the President’s military actions regarding Iran. The Admin must work with the Congress to advance an immediate, effective de-escalatory strategy which prevents further violence.

One Twitter user replied “It’s nothing but symbolic.  Like everything you do.
You just mislead your foolish voters that you are doing something.”

President Trump had already announced earlier in the day that no American casualties were suffered and he was moving forward with sanctions.

Prior to Trump’s announcement NBC Tehran Bureau Chief and correspondent Ali Arouzi had reported that Iranian state media stated that the Iranian senior officials won’t launch anymore attakcks as long as America does not attack.

If this is accurate it’s possible that the conflict may de-escalate with President Trump having taken out Iran’s leading general, and Iran not causing any casualties in retaliation.

Time will tell.

Arouzi tweeted:

Iran’s foreign minister @JZarif says Iran’s response was proportional and does not want this to escalate. State media are reporting that senior officials in country won’t launch anymore attacks as long as America does not attack.

Iran’s foreign minister had already tweeted:

Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched. We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression.

Pelosi suffered criticism for attending a party the same time a U.S. base in Iraq was under attack by Iranian ballistic missiles.
