Pelosi on impeachment trial “If we were not to follow up with this, we might as well remove any penalty from the Constitution of impeachment”

Speaking about Trump’s impeachment trial, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi quoted MLK Jr. in stating that justice is required for peace.

Pelosi then argued the founders made impeachment a penalty for wrongdoing in the constitution.

“If we were not to follow up with this, we might as well remove any penalty from the Constitution of impeachment. Just take it out,” Pelosi said. “They were fearful of a demagogue and they were fearful of a demagogue and a mob. That’s exactly what descended.”
