Ilhan Omar took to Twitter to attack President Trump for “treating immigrants like criminals.”
Omar clearly was referring to illegal immigrants, since the piece she was referencing on collecting DNA samples is not relevant to legal immigrants.
In November, Former ICE Director, Tom Homan, was testifying in front of congress earlier this week and actually had to explain to Democrat Rep. Al Green that crossing the border illegally is indeed a crime.
Perhaps Ilhan Omar should watch the exchange.
It’s insane how dumb some of our members of Congress are.
Rep. Al Green: "The interesting thing about your argument is that these people committed no crimes."

Homan is 100% accurate and here are the details on the 8 U.S. Code 1325 that he is referring to.
8 U.S. Code § 1325. Improper entry by alien

(b)Improper time or place; civil penaltiesAny alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of— (1)at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or (2)twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection. Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.
Here is a longer clip of the exchange between Homan and Rep. Al Green.
Homan had to explain the same concept to Omar’s fellow “squad” member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
