Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf calls Pelosi’s salon visit “an honest misunderstanding”

Appearing on ABC7, Democrat Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf called Pelosi’s PR disaster salon visit an “honest misunderstanding.”

Pelosi claimed she was “set up” and called for the Salon to apologize to her.

Mayor Schaaf said “as elected officials, we have to set an example. We have to be extra careful that we are complying with rules and really being role models.”

Schaaf also speculated that “It sounds like it was an honest misunderstanding, but I think people do expect us to be perfect, so we will try to do that. I know it’s hard, speaking from personal experience.”

During a December 2018 interview with Buzzfeed, Mayor Libby Schaaf said she had no regrets for tipping off illegal immigrants of an upcoming ICE raid.

Schaff told BuzzFeed in “I have no regrets, none. The more time goes by, the more certain I feel that I did the right thing in standing up for our community and pointing out our values are not aligned with our laws.”

She added “That’s hopefully the message that is sent out.”

Thursday, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany opened her press briefing by assailing Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her salon visit and the video of her at the salon on loop in the background.

President Trump also blasted Pelosi at a rally in Pennsylvania.
