New Emerson Poll has Biden’s National Lead Shrinking to 2 Points

A new Emerson college poll has Joe Biden’s national lead over President Trump down to 2 points (49-47)

The same poll had Biden up by 4 point (50-46) in July.

Director of Emerson College Polling Spencer Kimball explained “the Republican convention gave Trump his most positive week of news coverage which likely attributes to his bounce in this month’s poll and increasing job approval.”

The poll also showed Democrats planning to vote by mail far outweigh Republicans, while Republicans planning to vote in-person on election day far outweigh Democrats.

Other key takeaways:

Trump leads with male voters 50% to 45%

Biden leads with female voters 52% to 44%.

Biden leads with independents 50% to 42%.

With the new Emerson numbers included, Biden’s lead in the RealClearPolitics average is currently 6.2%.
