NBC Tehran Bureau Chief and correspondent Ali Arouzi has reported that Iranian state media are reporting that the senior officials in the country won’t launch anymore attacks as long as America does not attack.
If this is accurate it’s possible that the conflict may de-escalate with President Trump having taken out Iran’s leading general, and Iran not causing any casualties in retaliation.
Time will tell.
Arouzi tweeted:
Iran’s foreign minister @JZarif says Iran’s response was proportional and does not want this to escalate. State media are reporting that senior officials in country won’t launch anymore attacks as long as America does not attack. #iran #usa #Soleimani

Arouzi added:
If cooler head prevail and judging from @realDonaldTrump latest tweet he seems to be acting calmly this may deescalate. We still need to wait for the fog to clear. #iran #usa #Soleimani #war

Iran’s foreign minister tweeted:
Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched. We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression.
