Mitt Romney congratulates Biden and Harris, calls them “people of good will and admirable character”

Senator Mitt Romney has reacted to news outlets including Fox News and AP declaring Joe Biden has won the presidency.

Romney tweeted “Ann and I extend our congratulations to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. We know both of them as people of good will and admirable character.”

He added “We pray that God may bless them in the days and years ahead.”

Thursday, Romney wrote “the President is within his rights to request recounts, to call for an investigation of alleged voting irregularities where evidence exists, and to exhaust legal remedies — doing these things is consistent with our election process.”

“He is wrong to say that the election was rigged, corrupt and stolen,” Romney continued “doing so damages the cause of freedom here and around the world, weakens the institutions that lie at the foundation of the Republic, and recklessly inflames destructive and dangerous passions.”

He added in a separate tweet “Counting every vote is at the heart of democracy. That process is often long and, for those running, frustrating. The votes will be counted. If there are irregularities alleged, they will be investigated an ultimately resolved in the courts. Have faith in democracy, in our Constitution, and in the American people.”
