Minneapolis will name a stretch of a street that includes the place where he was died after George Floyd in his honor and memory.
According to the Star Tribune “While the street will still be called Chicago Avenue, the city of Minneapolis will refer to the blocks between 37th and 39th streets as George Perry Floyd Jr. Place.”
The City Council has already approved the naming and Mayor Jacob Frey has already indicated he will sign off on it.
Minneapolis City Council VP Andrew Jenkins recognized her colleagues on this project to bring recognition to “this tragic event that has really impacted our entire world.”
