Milwaukee anchor suspended after asking why 2020 took Trebek, not McConnell

Milwaukee news anchor Ted Perry has been suspended from his job after he posted on Facebook “2020 takes Alex Trebek but leaves Mitch McConnell? Just end already.”

While the post has been deleted, the screenshot was taken by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Dan O’Donnell of WISN-AM blasted Perry on Twitter, tweeting “He wished the Republican Senate Majority Leader was dead, in case anyone was wondering,”

Perry later apologized, writing “I made a statement on my personal Facebook page that was insensitive and does not reflect my journalist values and I was not speaking on behalf of my employer.”

It’s not known yet when and if Perry will return. Perry has also apparently deactivated his Twitter account.
