The Chicago police has effectively banned protesters from protesting at the block where Mayor Lori Lightfoot lives.
Citing threats, Mayor Lightfoot defended the ban on protesters on her block “I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure.” Lightfoot said.

Lightfoot was blasted on social media by Twitter users who felt her actions were hypocritical.
“Well that’s convenient.”
“So does every other Chicago resident and business but she’s failing them.”
“@chicagosmayor why do you have this right but I, a taxpaying citizen of this city, don’t?”
