Mace wants answers from Fauci on “cruel, taxpayer-funded experiments on puppies”

Saturday, Rep. Nancy Mace tweeted “Yesterday, I sent a letter to Dr. Fauci regarding cruel, taxpayer-funded experiments on puppies; debarking before drugging and killing them.”

“Thankful to my 23 democrat and republican colleagues who signed on. This is disgusting. What say you @NIH,” she added.

The letter:

Glenn Greenwald wrote “I reported on the barbaric dog experimentation industry. They breed dogs into the world — mostly beagles but others — with no purpose other than to conduct hideous experiments, with no medical value, then kill them when they’re done. It’s truly sick:

Rep. Nancy Mace responded ”

So disgusting. And cruel.”

Fact checking site Snopes writes “It is true that obligated funds were issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the amount of $424,555 for research conducted at the University of Georgia to test the efficacy of a potential vaccine for lymphatic filariasis on beagle subjects. However, it is unclear whether Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at NIH, personally approved the project.”
