DailyMail reports Lady Colin Campbell claimed Meghan Markle has political aspirations and hopes to one day run for president.
The author, 70, who is best known for her 2015 appearance in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, told FEMAIL she thought moving to the US was part of the plan to make the shift into the political sphere.
She said: ‘I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I’ve been told that one day she wants to run for President.
‘I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her.’
The Jamaican-born British writer, who penned the 1992 best-selling biography, Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows, has a new book out on Thursday about the Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 38, titled Meghan and Harry: The Real Story.
The author has given a number of interviews about the couple in recent weeks, including one with The Sunday Times in which she said Meghan has ‘squandered’ the ‘most wonderful opportunity’ by leaving the royal family.

She also claimed the signs Meghan would ‘not adjust’ well to life as a royal were apparent shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
Lady Colin told how Meghan became the hot topic of conversation at a dinner held at her house at Castle Goring, Worthing in Sussex, following a garden party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.
The socialite heard Meghan had apparently asked to leave after having her photo taken because she was ‘bored’.
‘We were all horrified,’ the author said. ‘It was a warning sign Meghan was not going to adjust as well as she’d hoped.’
Speaking to Australian TV network Channel Nine on Friday in which she said Meghan was the ‘driving force’ behind the decision to leave the royal family.
‘If you listen to their engagement tape they both state she’s been treated very well, she’s been welcomed with open arms and they can’t wait for her to become a working member of the royal family and she said she wanted to hit the ground running.
‘It did not work out for Meghan the way she thought it would… Meghan did not make the adjustment she should have and could have, and she is the one in my opinion [who drove the departure].’
