“Kaepernick” trends on Twitter Superbowl Sunday as activists pay tribute to him

Super Bowl Sunday, Tom Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and picked up his 7th Super Bowl title.

Meanwhile on Twitter, “Kaepernick” was trending as supporters paid tribute to him.

Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal tweeted “Don’t forget that the NFL has systematically villainized Colin Kaepernick because he *knelt* to protest racial injustice, police brutality, and anti-Blackness.”

Robert Reich wrote “On Super Bowl Sunday, it’s a good time to salute
@Kaepernick7 for his leadership, courage, and sacrifice.”

Jemele Hill wrote “In that Inspire Change commercial, the NFL forgot to show the part where they blackballed Colin Kaepernick, have only 3 black NFL head coaches and no majority black ownership.”
