Iowa Republican Miller-Meeks maintains lead of 6 votes after Clinton County recount in House race

After a recount in Clinton county, Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks leads her Democrat rival Rita Hart in a nail biter House race.

USAToday reports “the Clinton County tally concluded a recount in the 24-county southeast Iowa district. The vote will go to a state canvassing board Monday to be certified, which would make Miller-Meeks the official winner.”

Miller-Meeks reacted by saying “while the race is extraordinarily close, I am proud to have won this contest and look forward to being certified as the winner … on Monday.” She added “It is the honor of a lifetime to be elected to serve the people of eastern and southern Iowa. Iowans are tenacious, optimistic and hard-working, and I will take those same attributes to Washington, D.C., on their behalf.”
