UPDATE – From NASCAR:

Some on Twitter have expressed skepticism and have a lot of questions over the story of a “noose” being found in Bubba Wallace’s garage stall.

Conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza tweeted “I’ll wait to learn more but one of my first questions is whether #JussieSmollett has been recently spotted in the area ”

Some internet sleuths have also noticed that some of the garage pulls used at some point at Talladega looks similar to a “noose.”

YouTuber Mark Dice asked “Is this the “noose” found in @BubbaWallace’s garage?” and posted a video that explores the theory that the “noose” was just the garage pull.

Per TheHill, NASCAR announced Sunday that a noose was found in the garage stall of Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, just weeks after the racing circuit’s only African American driver emblazoned a “Black Lives Matter” message across his car and successfully pushed the organization to ban displays of the Confederate flag.

NASCAR said in a statement that it launched an immediate investigation into the matter, noting that it is “angry and outraged” by the “heinous act.”

“[We] will do everything we can to identify the person responsible and eliminate them from the sport,” NASCAR said. “As we have stated unequivocally, there is no place for racism in NASCAR, and this act only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and welcoming to all.”

In a message posted on Twitter, Wallace said that Sunday’s “despicable act of racism and hatred leaves me incredibly saddened and serves as a painful reminder of how much further we have to go as a society and how persistent we must be in the fight against racism.”
