House Republican who voted to impeach Trump won’t seek reelection, cites “toxic dynamics inside our own party”

House Republican Anthony Gonzalez, one of the 10 GOP House members who voted to impeach Trump announced he will not seek re-election in 2022.

“While my desire to build a fuller family life is at the heart of my decision, it is also true that the current state of our politics, especially many of the toxic dynamics inside our own party, is a significant factor in my decisions,” Gonzalez said in his statement.

If he had run, Gonzalez would have faced Trump-endorsed Max Miller. Miller called Gonzalez bowing out “good news for the voters of our district.”
