Tuesday, the House Freedom caucus called for House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy to change the rules in order to expel Reps. Cheney and Kinzinger from the Republican conference.
House Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Biggs blamed Pelosi for“removal of two of our members from the January 6 commission.”
“It was antithetical to have sitting in your conference, individuals who have professed they want to take out the minority leader,” Biggs said.
Per the Federalist:
Biggs suggested a new rule for the Republican conference, that any member who accepts a committee assignment outside their normal procedure, “shall immediately cease to be a member of the conference.”
Other members echoed Biggs’ concerns, with Rep. Lauren Boebert claiming that she’s “seen firsthand that representatives Kinzinger and Cheney have done more to hurt the Republican Conference than helped them while working for Adam Schiff, and Nancy Pelosi,” even adding that “both Liz and Adam have stood by and simped for Pelosi, as she has consolidated power in her office and trampled the Constitution.”
