Hillary Accuses Trump of turning to “racist rhetoric to distract from his failures”

Wednesday, Hillary Clinton accused President Trump of turning to “racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on.”

Clinton warns her followers “Don’t fall for it. Don’t let your friends and family fall for it.”

Last week, Hillary Clinton offered her critique on what Trump should be doing during the pandemic, tweeting:

I know this is all hard for you, @realdonaldtrump, so let me spell it out:

– Free testing
– Fee waivers
– Emergency sick leave
– Quarantines
– Cancellations
– Giving a damn

Tuesday, President Trump refused to back down from using the term “Chinese virus” that upset many Democrats.

Trump instead argued what was truly creating creating a “stigma” was the accusation from a Chinese official the virus was caused by the U.S. military.

The Hill reports President Trump said Tuesday that he doesn’t think using the phrase “Chinese virus” creates a stigma.

A reporter asked Trump during a Tuesday press briefing addressing the coronavirus outbreak about the criticism he has received about using the phrase “Chinese virus” to describe the coronavirus.

The president pushed back on the question, saying that “China was putting out information, which was false, that our military gave this to them.”

“That was false,” he said. “And rather than having an argument, I said I have to call it where it came from. It did come from China so I think it’s a very accurate term.”

A reporter asked a follow-up question about whether using the phrase “Chinese virus” creates a stigma.

“No, I don’t think so,” Trump responded. “I think saying that our military gave it to them creates a stigma.”
