HBO Will Pull All Guns from Looney Tunes Cartoons, Including Elmer Fudd

Looney Tunes showrunner Peter Browngardt has announced that “We’re not doing guns.”

Characters such as Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam will no longer carry their signature firearms, but Browngardt clarified, “we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.”

Some on social media  are not pleased with the new development.

Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez tweeted:

The Loony Left has gone so FAR that they even took Elmer Fudd’s gun away!!! No more catching the wabbit for him!!

This is how Democrats get to our kids!! They teach them young that it’s “okay” to give up your gun!! Heck NO!! NOT IN MY HOUSE!!

One Twitter user wrote:

The looney tunes remake with Elmer Fudd not having a gun is ridiculous. The whole premise of the cartoon was him hunting for BB and Daffy with a gun. What is he going to have a camera to take pics with. Chuck Jones must be turning over in his grave along with Mel Blanc.

Per EntertainmentWeekly, killing the wabbit is getting a whole lot tougher for Elmer Fudd.

The iconic Looney Tunes character is hunting Bugs Bunny without his rifle in HBO Max’s reboot of the legendary cartoon series.

Instead, Fudd uses a scythe to stalk his prey. So everybody is going to have to be very, very, very quiet for Fudd to get close enough to, one assumes, chop Bugs Bunny’s head off, Game of Thrones style.

In fact, guns aren’t allowed in the series, titled Looney Tunes Cartoons, at all.

“We’re not doing guns,” the show’s executive producer Peter Browngardt told The New York Times. “But, we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.”
