According to a new report from King5, a little more than half of Seattle public school students have not even logged into the district’s online systems for fall classes.
According to district spokesperson, about 25k students have logged into their systems, out of 55k registered students.
The district had promoted September 4-11th as being “Strong Start” days and wrote on their website “These first days of school will ensure a strong foundation for the rest of the year. In agreement with Seattle Education Association all educators will focus on supporting students’ social and emotional well-being, culturally responsive community building, family connections, and making sure students know how to use their technology tools to access learning.”
According to reporting from King5, the district does not know what the issue is and why the low attendance.
