Grandpa of murdered 11 year old boy “Black lives matter it seems like, only when a police officer shoots a black person”

John Ayala, the grandfather of Davon McNeal, an 11 year old boy who was tragically shot on July 4th, is speaking out.

Everybody’s just saying they’re just tired – tired of the shootings in the community. Everybody’s running around here thinking they’re Uzi-toting, dope-sucking, psychopathic killing machines and they’re just destroying lives. We’re protesting for months, for weeks, saying, “Black Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter.” Black lives matter it seems like, only when a  police officer shoots a black person. What about all the black-on-black crime that’s happening in the community?

Fox5DC reports police are offering up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest after an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed in Southeast D.C. on the 4th of July.

The family of the young victim tells FOX 5 a holiday cookout was going on at the time, when shots rang out – and that the 11-year-old had stopped by to pick up a few items for a cell phone.

The 11-year-old victim has been identified as Davon McNeal of Southeast D.C

In an emotional interview, one of the victim’s grandfathers told FOX 5 he hates the Fourth of July because he doesn’t know whether to celebrate or duck from gunfire.

D.C. Police say the shooting happened on the 1400 block of Cedar St. SE at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham, on scene Saturday night, said a group of about five males had opened fire and that a dark-color sedan was seen fleeing through a nearby alley.

In scanner recordings found on the website “Open MHZ” first responders could be heard saying the 11-year-old was shot in the head. McNeal was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Well into Sunday morning, officers and homicide detectives were seen combing through the area, shining a light under cars. At least three K9 teams also responded.
