Appearing on Fox News’s “The Journal Editorial Report” Republicans Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) said “I do think the president committed impeachable offenses.”
Asked about whether the Senate will act on articles of impeachment during the final days of Trump’s presidency, Tommey replied “I don’t know what they are going to send over, and one of the things that I’m concerned about, frankly, is whether the House would completely politicize something.”
Tommey said he believes Trump “committed impeachable offenses,” but “I don’t know what’s going to land on the Senate floor if anything.”
If Trump is impeached a second time, 66 Senators would be needed in order to convict and remove him from office.
Senator Lisa Murkowski was the first GOP Senator to suggest she is on board with Trump being removed from office.
If Trump is impeached after he is out of office, it would make him ineligible to run again in 2024 or beyond.
