Monday, Iowa Republican Senator Join Ernst defended Liz Cheney who may lose her GOP leadership role as conference chair if efforts against her within the party succeed.
Ernst told reporters “It’s OK to go ahead and express what you feel is right to express and you know, cancel culture is cancel culture no matter how you look at it, and unfortunately I think there are those that are trying to silence others in the party.”
“I support President Trump and his policies, so I have a slightly different view on that,” she continued. “But I still think we shouldn’t be trying to cancel voices, but what we can do is come together and try and win seats, and [in] 2022, I think that’s what all of us should be focused on.”
GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy backs replacing Cheney as conference chair with Rep. Elise Stefanik.
