Gillibrand under fire after missing vote, leading to 50-49 GOP Victory on “Payness Fairness Act” vote

Democrats fumed after Senator Kristin Gillibrand missed a key vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act, leading Republicans to a 50-49 victory.

Per WSJ “The vote was 49-50 on a procedural motion to take up the legislation, with Democrats voting yes and all Republicans voting no. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) was absent Tuesday, but even had she voted, Democrats would have fallen short of the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican opposition.”

Democrats vented online at Gillibrand.

Some of their responses to her most recent tweet:

“Not sure that after today a lot of people are really turning to you as the centerpiece for defending democracy. If you can’t even show up…”

“She has never been a leader for us in new York she has only been interested in keeping her own prosperity”

“You tweeting this out and didn’t have the nerve to show up to vote for your sisters in this country to have equal pay? How we expect u to show up for the voters bill?”

“You have a lot of nerve even Tweeting about this tonight after skipping another important vote today. I voted for a Senator who I thought would work for me. I honestly don’t know what happened to her. I’m embarrassed for you.”

“A lot of nerve indeed. She could care less. Hopefully someone will primary BOTH New York Senators. Time for some fresh ideas and not people just worried about campaign contributions.”
