During a November 6, 2016 segment on NBC, host Chuck Todd was laughably overestimated Hillary Clinton’s chances for victory.
Todd’s detailed analysis led him to the conclusion that Florida was a “checkmate” state for Hillary and Todd declared “the math for Trump is impossible without the state of Florida.”
Trump ended up winning the election by 304-227 electoral votes and he did indeed win Florida.
However, proving Todd’s point completely wrong, Trump could have lost Florida and he still would have won 275-256. It was not a “checkmate” state for Hillary after all.
