Five Walgreens in San Francisco will close next month due to an ongoing theft epidemic.
Per the SF Chronicle Walgreens closed a location on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco a year ago after the store was losing $1,000 a day in stolen merchandise.
“Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that,” Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso explained. “Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average.
