Feinstein laments “I recognize I don’t have the power to” stop Trump’s SCOTUS nomination

Thursday, Senator Dianne Feinstein said she thinks the next President should make the decision on who to nominate to fill the SCOTUS vacancy left by Justice Ginsburg’s passing.

However, she also acknowledged she does not have the power to stop a Supreme Court nomination from Trump before the election.

With only Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski siding with Democrats on wanting to wait until after the election to fill the vacancy, Democrats’s hope for blocking a Trump SCOTUS nominee have dimmed. .

“Neither this committee nor the Senate should consider a nomination at this time,” Feinstein said.

“I recognize I don’t have the power to carry that through, but I feel it very deeply. The next president, whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump, should make the decision on who to nominate.”
