Real Clear Politics reported that Sanders reacted to White House press corps reporter and CNN contributor April Ryan saying it’s time for heads to roll in the Trump administration. In an interview last week, Ryan said Trump has to start “lopping the heads off” of his staff, especially Sarah Sanders.

“Look I’ve had a lot of reporters say a lot of things about me. They’ve said I should be choked. They said I should deserve a lifetime of harassment. But I’ve certainly never had somebody say I should be decapitated. This takes us to a new low even for the liberal media,” Sanders said Monday.

April Ryan just gave a perfect illustration of what President Trump means when he says that some journalists are acting as “the enemy of the people.”

In a recent appearance on CNN, Ryan abandoned all semblance of journalistic integrity to attack White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with abhorrent language that is beneath the dignity of her position as a White House correspondent.

It’s not the first time Ryan has taken a swipe at Sanders, but this time, she hit a new low by suggesting that Sanders should be decapitated.

“Not only does [Sanders] not have credibility, she lied. She out and out lied,” Ryan argued, referencing Sanders’ 2017 claim that FBI agents had lost faith in James Comey. “And the people, the American people can’t trust her. They can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece-spokesperson from the people’s house. Therefore, she should be let go. She should be fired, end of story.”

Does this sound like objective journalism to you? Is this what unbiased political analysis looks like on CNN?

How about when Ryan asserted that there is “a lack of credibility” at the White House, and therefore “you have to start … lopping the heads off?”

Charming, no?

While Ryan’s remark may not rise to the level of a direct threat, it was certainly tone deaf and hypocritical — especially for a so-called “journalist.”

While columnists and talking heads have a right to criticize anyone they want, this clearly crossed the line. Ryan, moreover, isn’t just a pundit. She’s also the White House Correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, a credentialed reporter who regularly covers President Trump and his administration. And this isn’t even the first time she has gone after Sanders in an unprofessional manner.

It was Ryan, you might recall, who demanded proof after Sanders innocently tweeted a photo of a pie she baked in 2017. This woman’s hostility and vitriol truly know no bounds, at least when it comes to the president’s spokeswoman.

During a press conference last year, Ryan asked Sarah if she was “blindsided” by Rudy Giuliani’s media appearance the night before. “[W]ith all due respect, you actually don’t know much about me in terms of what I feel and what I don’t,” Sanders answered.

The reply didn’t sit will with Ryan, who went on to argue that the response could have sparked a literal brawl.

“If she’s upset about [my question] then that’s fine, I understand people in the White House are very upset,” Ryan said at the time. “But what I will say to you is that … for her to say, ‘you don’t know me,’ in certain quarters in this nation that starts a physical fight.”

It appears that Ryan is a master at sniffing out violent rhetoric where there is none, but an amateur when it comes to noticing the vicious nature of her own language. The White House Correspondents’ Association should swiftly revoke her credentials if it wants to protect the journalistic standards of real reporters who still practice real journalism.
