Dems Fume after Texas announces election audit in four counties after Trump demand

Democrats were not happy after Texas announced an election audit in four counties after Trump demanded it.

Thursday, Trump sent the following letter to Texas Governor Greg Abbott calling for a state election audit.

“Texas needs you to act now,” Trump wrote. “Your Third Special Session is the perfect, and maybe last, opportunity to pass this audit bill.”

“Your citizens don’t trust the election system, and they want your leadership on this issue, which is the number one thing they care about,” he added.

After, the Texas secretary of state’s office announced it would carry out an election audit in four of the state’s largest counties.

Democrats fumed.

State Rep. Chris Turner wrote:

Let me be the first to congratulate the disgraced former president, Donald Trump, on his apparently becoming the new governor of Texas.

Pitiful yet predictable that @GregAbbott_TX has capitulated to Trump yet again. #txlege

Julian Castro wrote “A gross abuse of power. Trump demands an audit and Abbott’s appointee immediately announces a bogus one—with no evidence of fraud. Abbott is so afraid of losing his primary that he’s governing our state based on the whims and lies of Donald Trump”
