Democrats fumed after Senator Mike Lee did not congratulate Joe Biden and instead wrote “I look forward to working with whichever candidate emerges as the winner at the end of this process” in a new statement.
Lee also wrote “Both candidate have a right to exhaust ever legal remedy at their disposal under law” and “the candidate are uniquely positioned to decide whether to request recounts, verify the accuracy of data, and otherwise take steps to ensure that all votes have been counted properly and lawfully.”

Lee’s diplomatic comment angered several Democrats on Twitter.
Bert Gilfoyle replied “Europe, time to put Magnitsky sanctions on Republicans leaders. They are attempting a coup.”
Tami Buraga wrote “You are de-legitimizing our elections. Shame on you. ”
Another wrote “I sure hope this BS statement is the beginning of the end for you. Utah deserves better and you have got to go.”
Another wrote “GOP leaders are having trouble locating their spines.”
You are de-legitimizing our elections. Shame on you.
And shame on you for forsaking your oath to the Constitution and turning your back on the counsel of your own church leaders. Remember these remarks just last month by @OaksDallinH? https://t.co/BX9VOPZOMR pic.twitter.com/NMG0yvQcBx
