CA Democrat announces bill to block funding for buildings, statues or benches honoring Trump

Democrat Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-CA) tweeted Wednesday “I filed a bill that would prevent federal funds from being used for projects honoring or named after Donald Trump. We can’t glorify the violence he incited on January 6th and the hatred he personified as President. ”

She added “There is #NoGloryforHate. ”

In subsequent tweets, Sanchez added:

Donald Trump poured gasoline on lies, encouraging racism and hatred, for four years. And he lit a match on January 6th. He doesn’t deserve the honors earned by former presidents.

No building, statue or park bench should bear the name of a traitor.

I’ll never forget barricading in my office that day. I remember thinking, “no one who stirs up this kind of sedition should be commemorated.”

I can’t imagine sending students in Southern CA – or anywhere in America – to a school named in honor of a traitorous president.

Even though he is no longer in office, Donald Trump must still be held accountable for his actions. And taxpayers should not foot the bill for his future travel and other expenses.

Former presidents earn these things. DJT does not qualify.

Florida Lawmaker Anthony Sabatini tweeted Friday “This legislative session I will be sponsoring an amendment to rename U.S. Highway 27 as the “President Donald J. Trump Highway.”

“Looking forward to working on this important designation honoring one of the greatest Presidents in American History,” he added.
