Moderate Democrat Senator Sinema broke from the many Democrats that were highly critical of President Trump’s decision to kill Soleimani.
Tweeting a statement, Sinema wrote:
The country deserves, and the administration must provide, a coherent effective strategy to safeguard our national security.
My highest priority is the safety of Arizona families. Soleimani was a terrorist, and I stand with all Arizonans in honoring the Americans killed and harmed by his actions.
Iran’s aggression should be checked, and we must protect all Americans at home and abroad,” the moderate Democrat added.
Democrat leadership including Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and Schumer have been highly critical of the U.S. airstrikes that killed General Soleimani and have focused on the fact Trump did not receive Congressional approval.
Meanwhile the progressive wing including Bernie Sanders and the “squad” have accused President Trump of essentially trying to take the nation to war.
