Cori Bush slammed after claiming “We’re building a politics of love. Because I love you, I care that you have food to eat. I care that you have a roof over your head.”

Thursday, Progressive Democrat Rep. Cori Bush was mocked after tweeting “We’re building a politics of love. Because I love you, I care that you have food to eat. I care that you have a roof over your head. I care that you have what you need to thrive. That’s how our government should work.”

Ian Miles Cheong replied “Wrong. The government should just mind its own god damn business instead of getting into mine.”

Another Twitter user replied “That is ABSOLUTELY NOT how government is supposed to work. If you want love, go to your church, your community, your family- Not the government! The government should be completely emotionless and make decisions based on facts and data, not empathy and love? WTF is this”

“And that’s why you just called to defund our police while you protect yourself with $70k in private security. That is horrible Ms. Bush. Just horrible.”

“You also believe in “security for me but not for thee.””

Earlier in the day Glenn Grenwald tweeted “I think Cori Bush — and anyone else in public life who faces legitimate threats — deserves whatever security they need. That’s why it’s so bizarre to hear her, seconds after demanding it, demand defunding of the police for ordinary citizens who want the police there also:
