Cori Bush causes stir after referring to black women as “Black Birthing People”

Thursday, progressive Democrat Cori Bush referred to women as “Black Birthing People.”

Bush wrote “Every day, Black birthing people and our babies die because our doctors don’t believe our pain. My children almost became a statistic. I almost became a statistic. I testified about my experience @OversightDems today.”

“Hear us. Believe us. Because for so long, nobody has,” she added.

Cori’s terminology caused a stir on social media.

One supporter replied “Love the terminology you’re using. Thank you for being inclusive of those folks with uteruses that are not cisgender and who desperately need to be recognized in our legislation.”

Conservative Caleb Hull replied:

“black birthing people” AKA women

Another Twitter user wrote “As a student midwife & birth worker – THANK YOU for using inclusive language :)”

Another replied “Women. You can say women.”
