Appearing with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said he can no longer call himself a “fellow Republican.”
Zakaria asked Powell if he thinks Republicans who didn’t condemn Trump “encouraged, at least, this wildness to grow and grow.”
“They did,” Powell agreed “and that’s why I can no longer call myself a fellow Republican.”
Powell went on to explain he’s “not a fellow of anything right now.”
“I’m just a citizen who has voted Republican,” he added voted Democrat throughout my entire career and right now I’m just watching my country and not concerned with parties.”
Powell endorsed Joe Biden in August.
